In 1981 the Pentecostal Power Churches Inc. held their annual Pentecost Convention in Benton Harbor MI, under the leadership of Bishop Willis Baker. The National Usher Department was then organized by Brother Gillis Tripplett of St. Louis, Mo. who was under the leadership of Bishop McMichael. Officers were appointed to assist Brother Tripplett which included Missionary Mary Tombs as vice president and Sister Emma Triplett as secretary and treasurer. There were many other general ushers throughout the organization. In 1986 during the National Convention in St. Louis Mo. the Board of Bishops established that Tuesday of each National Convention would be recognized as National Usher’s Day. This was a monumental leap for the National Usher Department.  Decades later, the department continues to grow to new heights despite world and economic challenges.  There are currently more than 40 ushers throughout the organization and with the help of God, we will continue to build and grow.
